Project 52: Tuesday Evening

(I am awaiting the paired collage for this one)

Christmas Eve last year was my second day off on my first work rotation, after which many of us gathered at the Reef Bar at the hotel where we were staying as employees on Nauru, for evening drinks. Whilst we were sitting at our beachside table, the power on the island went out as the moon rose up out of the ocean....it was spectacular!

Project 52: Tuesday Afternoon

Tuesdays on my first rotation in Nauru was my day off, and on the first one Monica and I made an effort to attempt to walk around the whole island. This was our view as we looked right on much of our completed 3/4 of the country that day.

Project 52: Tuesday Lunchtime

In the final days before departure for my job in Nauru, I managed to catch up with a few people, including having lunch with Dad to tell him about my next crazy adventure. We met up at Racers along Lake Wendouree.

Project 52: Tuesday Morning

Preparing for my new job, and finishing off my short term contract with my old one, I returned back to Ballarat and the old office to complete my final work days - plus I needed to stay at Mum's due to my homelessness! On my way into the office, I spotted the massive cluster of Christmas baubles in front of the Town Hall - pretty impressive!

Project 52: Monday Evening

(I am awaiting the collage for this one)

Monday nights in Melbourne, for some select months, have offered Scarf Dinners, and this was one of those nights. This time it was at Markov in Carlton, with the menu designed by Kerala Foods. So good! Carly and I enjoyed the two courses, plus dessert, and wine, served by the waitstaff from disadvantaged backgrounds who were undergoing their intensive hospitality training. Love this new dining for good movement!

Project 52: Monday Afternoon

Attending a session as part of Melbourne Music Week, Nicole, Mary and I listened as Gotye discussed the creative process behind making his music videos. We heard about how the idea for the stop motion animation concept for Somebody That I Used To Know come together, from the director and producer herself, in conversation with Wally. Then I was amazed to hear about the work put in over a pretty short space of time to create the Easy Way Out clip, again from the creators and Wally, who spoke of the brief he put to them - so impressive! The animators who are responsive for a couple of others clips, including State Of The Art also spoke about their processes, and how they worked on making those clips match the music. They also redefined Seven Hours With A Backseat Driver for Wally, with their visual concept.

A great panel discussion, and a unique insight, the session was also part of the Spectacle Music Video Exhibition on at ACMI until the 23rd of this month.

Project 52: Monday Lunchtime

A run down to the Trailer Park in Melbourne for an extended lunch break from work, to grab a sample of one of the food trucks on roster for Good Food Month was too good to pass up! Reading great reviews of the Fusion Fish n Chips truck, I made the effort when it was on the roster for the week, and was not disappointed.

Project 52: Monday Morning

This particular Monday morning I was "working from home", writing reports. I had taken on a short term contract with my old real job, in between other locum gigs and whilst I was going through the process for my new job. The hourly rate was just too good to refuse. To explain the photo, I had two indoor, hairless cats staring me down during this early stage of the three week gig. Creepy!

Project 52: Sunday Evening

Ohhh, we have been a bit slack with the Project 52 pics and posts at the end of 2013, as life has clearly got in the way! I am going to set up the final batch as weekly posts, so here goes!

This was the Sunday night where I was discovering the range of movies available to me on the full set of channels of pay TV at my housesitting gig! I was in a house in the outer north west of Melbourne, and actually enjoyed being in one place for a decent amount of time. A rare occasion when this transient nomad stayed in most nights, and absorbed movie after movie, and loved it!

Project 52: Sunday Afternoon

This Sunday Afternoon was my birthday, so I put together a day of treats within Melbourne city. The afternoon found me at the National Gallery of Victoria, with a glass of pinot gris and a couple of flavoured macarons overlooking the wall of water, with Nicole. This was after wandering through the Art Deco Fashion exhibit, and checking out the Disarm! musical performance. A lovely afternoon!

Project 52: Sunday Lunchtime

On this particular Sunday I was on the way home to Ballarat to visit all of my remaining possessions, to swap out some work clothes, some weekend clothes, and collect some other bits and pieces I wanted from my storage room at my long suffering mother's house. I was changing locum roles the next day, so needed some more corporate attire, and I was getting bored with some of the other bits of the contents of my pack!  But I needed to eat before I hit the road, and discovered that the location of Mr Burger was on the way! Perfect!

My love of the food truck craze continues! The truck was parked alongside Edinburgh Gardens, so I got to sit out and enjoy it. This was my first feed from Mr Burger, and it was pretty hearty and very good. Perfect for the drive down and back on the Western Highway.

Project 52: Sunday Morning

Getting up reasonably early on a Sunday morning is not usually something I do, but for this particular one I did, to join Cam and the girls to complete the Run For Refugees, as part of the Melbourne Marathon. Despite the rain, and flooded track, we made it, which was such a special feat for Cam. An amazing effort!

The event raised $205,031 for the Asylum Seekers Resource Centre, which is amazing. A centre run by more volunteers than paid staff, and a place that provides services to those in need without any government funds. Don't worry if you didn't get to donate then, cos you can help them continue their work, and secure a long term premises through their Home Of Hope Christmas Appeal.

Project 52: Saturday Evening

The Peter Crimmins Medal, which we all still accidentally call the Brownlow - it's the Hawthorn best and fairest - and was a great, glam night out. A wonderful way to finish off an amazing football season, for fans like us, and the club as a whole.

We have talked about going annually as a new tradition. I don't know really, why we haven't been doing so!

Project 52: Saturday Afternoon

It's been a month now, since that incredible One Day in September. This Saturday afternoon I was standing in our bay at the MCG, singing the national anthem just before the AFL Grand Final. And what a day it was!

Topped off such a great year. 2013 goes down as a good one, because the Hawks won the premiership!

Project 52: Saturday Lunchtime

At the beginning of last month this particular Saturday saw Nicole and I dressing up for Mary's 30th birthday party - to the theme of "M". I dressed as a Mummy - although in a kid's costume, the skirt was necessary! Mary was her beloved Micheal Jackson, of course, and Nicole was a Mod.

The best costume of the day, however, was a Mona Lisa, with the artwork frame and long flowing wig to make it amazing. Good one Natalie!

Project 52: Saturday Morning

This Saturday morning I was housesitting in a place that I seriously did not want to leave - with a kitchen that made me want to stay home and cook! Imagine! Everything is where you need to find it, it's laid out perfectly, it has everything. I kept saying this is the kind of house I would like when I grow up. Ha!

Since doing the Below The Line food challenge, I have craved the Eggs In Tomato from the menu plan I used, and have made it several times since. Yum!

Project 52: Friday Evening

This was the Friday night of the First Qualifying Final, between Hawthorn and Sydney, at the MCG. The nerves were very high at this point, the moment when both teams line up for the National Anthem. Go Hawks!

We won this game by a whopping 52 points....needn't have been nervous at all! Ha!

(And I cannot believe the matching photo is the TV in Sydney. What AFL Footy Finals!?!?)

Project 52: Friday Afternoon

This particular Friday I was in Sydney, soaking up the sunshine and warmth on the decking on my friend's "mansion" (as I call it!). A glorious afternoon of catching up, talking travel and footy, ready for the last round of AFL football for the year, before the finals.

Project 52: Friday Lunchtime

Back to the kind of work role that involves being out of the road completing visits to clients, albeit within the suburbs of Melbourne and mainly homevisits in this role. Within my locum role, and because I have begged to be kept busy rather than idle, I am currently out and about from the office around 2-3 times per week.

Heading back to the office from one of the outer suburbs on this particular Friday, I remember being pretty pleased with the progress and goals set at the visit I had just completed - and loving the fact that, with the aid of an interpreter, I had conducted a visit in Spanish!

Project 52: Friday Morning

The view from the front gate from my last housesitting assignment, as I set off to walk to work. At that house it was just a 9 minute walk to my current locum gig - and I could see the tops of the Melbourne CBD buildings from right there. Perfect spot, and a lucky friend-of-a-friend connection set it up.
